Anne's Early Life

Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on June 12, 1929. Her parents were Otto Frank, a businessman, and Edith Frank-Holländer, a homemaker. Anne had an older sister, Margot, who was born in 1926. The Frank family was Jewish, and they lived a happy and comfortable life in Frankfurt.

In 1933, the Nazis came to power in Germany. The Nazis were a political party that believed in the superiority of the Aryan race. They began to persecute Jews, and the Frank family was forced to flee their home in Frankfurt. They moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands, where they hoped to find safety.

Life in Hiding

In 1942, the Nazis invaded the Netherlands. The Frank family went into hiding in the back of Otto Frank's business premises on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. They were joined by four other people: Hermann van Pels, his wife Auguste, and their son Peter, and Fritz Pfeffer. The eight people lived in hiding for two years, until they were discovered by the Nazis in August 1944.

During her time in hiding, Anne wrote in her diary about her experiences. She wrote about her hopes and dreams, her fears and frustrations, and her thoughts on the war. Anne's diary is a remarkable document that provides a unique insight into the life of a young girl living under the threat of persecution.

Anne's Legacy

Anne Frank was captured by the Nazis and sent to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where she died of typhus in March 1945. She was only 15 years old.

Anne's diary was found after the war and published in 1947. It has since become one of the most widely read books in the world. Anne's story has inspired millions of people around the world, and it continues to be a reminder of the importance of fighting against oppression and intolerance.

The Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House is a museum in Amsterdam that is dedicated to the life and work of Anne Frank. The museum is located in the building where Anne and her family went into hiding. Visitors to the museum can learn about Anne's life, read her diary, and see the rooms where she lived.

The Anne Frank House is a popular tourist destination, and it is a must-see for anyone who is interested in learning about the Holocaust. The museum is a powerful reminder of the horrors of the Holocaust, and it is a tribute to the courage and resilience of Anne Frank.
