About the Author
Wamditanka is a Lakota elder and a lifelong advocate for Native American rights. She has worked as a television producer and director for over 30 years, and her work has been featured on PBS, HBO, and the Sundance Channel. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Peabody Award and the Emmy Award.
Joy Harjo is an acclaimed poet, musician, and writer. She is the author of nine books of poetry, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning "An American Sunrise." She is also a National Book Award winner and a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant.
