About August Wilson

August Wilson (1945-2005) was an American playwright best known for his "Pittsburgh Cycle," a series of ten plays that chronicle the African American experience in the 20th century. Wilson won two Pulitzer Prizes for Drama, for Fences (1987) and The Piano Lesson (1990),and was a recipient of the National Humanities Medal.
